Salesforce Migration · Austin

Salesforce migration in Austin.

Migration for Austin companies arriving with an existing CRM, graduating from a startup tool, or consolidating systems after a headquarters move or acquisition.

Salesforce Migration for Austin companies

Austin migrations come from two directions. Startups graduating from spreadsheets or a lightweight CRM need structure more than volume, while companies relocating here often bring an established org or a second CRM from another region. In both cases we inventory the sources, map fields to one design, deduplicate before loading and decide what history is worth keeping. Test loads are reconciled in a sandbox, and cutover is planned with sales leadership so nobody works in two systems at once or loses track of an open deal.

How migration plays out in Austin.

Corporate Headquarters

More than 80 companies have moved headquarters to the Austin region, by Opportunity Austin's count, a total it ranks behind only Dallas. A relocation often combines a new regional sales structure with legacy data from the old location. Migration then means merging those records into one org, reassigning ownership to new teams and rebuilding territories, without losing the account history long-standing customers expect sales to know. Relocating firms should also retire the old location's org once cutover is confirmed.

Professional, scientific, and technical services

Consulting and software services firms often start with pipeline in a spreadsheet and client history in a project tool. Migrating them into Salesforce means turning client lists into accounts with consistent names, linking past engagements for reference and setting up opportunity types that match how the firm sells. The cleanup matters more than the load itself, because early data habits become permanent quickly once a team grows. We also retire duplicate client names that differ only by suffix or spelling.

Information

Venture-backed software companies commonly move to Salesforce when their first enterprise deals or a new sales leader arrive. Migration for them covers deals, contacts and subscription details from a starter CRM, matched to billing and product IDs so renewals and expansion can be tracked immediately. We also clean lifecycle stages, so marketing and sales stop disagreeing about which leads are real and which were never qualified. Open renewals are checked by hand before cutover.

Plan for it

What to plan for in Austin.

01

Freeze the old system briefly

Set a short, dated freeze on the source CRM before the final load, and tell sales exactly when to stop entering data there. Skipping the freeze is how deals get lost between systems during a cutover weekend, and recovering them later is slow.

02

Reassign ownership during the move

Relocations and reorganizations change who owns which accounts. Build the new ownership and territory mapping into the migration itself, rather than loading records under their old owners and reassigning them afterward, which disrupts reports, notifications and assignment rules for weeks afterward.

03

Let sellers review test loads

Matching record counts is necessary but not enough. Have several sellers and managers review their own accounts and open deals in the sandbox after each test load, because they will notice wrong owners, missing contacts or odd stages that totals hide.

FAQ

Migration in Austin: questions.

Our company is moving to Austin and merging two CRMs. Where do we start?

Agree first on the design the combined company will use; which org hosts it is a second question. Decide which org or data model survives, based on which fits the combined business, then inventory both sources against it. Deduplicate shared customers, agree ownership rules for overlapping accounts, and plan the new territories alongside the migration. Moving both teams in one cutover is usually simpler than two, provided the test loads have been reviewed by both.

We are an Austin startup running sales from spreadsheets. How much cleanup comes before the move?

Most of the work. Spreadsheets tend to mix companies and people in one row, use free-text stages and hold duplicate entries under slightly different names. We split and standardize those records, agree on stage definitions, and remove leads that were never real. The load itself is quick once the data is clean, and the team starts Salesforce with records they recognize and trust.

Can subscriber lists and campaign history move at the same time as our CRM records?

Yes. Subscribers, lists, lead scores and campaign history can move alongside CRM data, with consent and unsubscribe status carried over so nobody is emailed against their wishes. We decide with your marketing team which campaign history is worth keeping and rebuild key nurture programs in the new platform. Marketing and sales cut over together, so lead handoffs work from the first day.
