Salesforce implementation guide: phases, timeline and checklist
The five phases of a Salesforce implementation, what happens in each, what drives the timeline, and a checklist to use before you sign a statement of work.
Read the full post →Field Service projects succeed or fail on scheduling. If work types, skills, territories and travel rules do not reflect how crews actually work, dispatchers go back to spreadsheets and Outlook calendars within weeks. We start by modeling the real jobs: how long they take, who is qualified to do them, what parts they need and where the technicians are.
We configure work orders, service appointments, skills and territories, the dispatcher console and the Field Service mobile app, and connect them to cases, assets, quotes and inventory. For one packaging-automation manufacturer we replaced manual Outlook scheduling with automated appointment creation, territory assignment, a visual Gantt view and skills-based matching across 37 work types. For a painting and construction company we took crews paperless with Field Service mobile and CPQ estimating, so managers see costs against estimates in real time.
Not everyone who appears on a schedule needs a Field Service license. For an industrial-services firm we tracked 75–100 laborers without per-worker Field Service licenses, using a custom Labor Resource object, as part of rescuing a $100K build from a previous partner. Getting the license model right early can matter as much as the configuration.
A Salesforce Consulting Partner since 2017 with 150 Salesforce certifications, we run the Service Cloud, Sales Cloud and CPQ practices that sit around Field Service, so work orders, quotes and customer history live in one system instead of three.
