Salesforce Optimization · Chicago

Salesforce optimization in Chicago.

Optimization for Chicago-area organizations whose Salesforce org is live and paid for but not delivering the adoption, clean data or reporting leadership expected.

Salesforce Optimization for Chicago companies

Chicago orgs that need optimization are often several years old and have outlived their original design: divisions were added, an acquisition was folded in, and each change brought its own fields and automation. We measure usage by team, interview the people who avoid the system, then simplify layouts, merge duplicate accounts, move old workflow rules and Process Builder into Flow, and rebuild dashboards on agreed definitions. Each team gets a brief session on what changed for its own role.

How optimization plays out in Chicago.

Professional Services

World Business Chicago names professional services as a target sector, and the broader professional, scientific and technical category contributes at least 10% of 2024 metro GDP. Consulting, accounting and legal firms here often have Salesforce but track utilization and pursuits elsewhere. Optimization aligns opportunity stages with how engagements are actually won, cuts fields partners ignore, and builds practice-level dashboards showing pipeline, win rates and client coverage without an analyst in the loop.

Manufacturing (incl. Food Manufacturing)

At manufacturing companies in the metro, adoption problems usually trace to a sales team that cannot see what it needs in Salesforce, such as order history, open quotes or distributor activity. We bring the most useful ERP data into view, simplify opportunity and quote layouts for outside reps using mobile, and consolidate automation that fires on accounts and orders. Forecast reports are then rebuilt on the cleaned data so plant and sales leaders review the same numbers.

Innovation and Technology

Innovation and technology is one of World Business Chicago's target sectors, and the region's startup and commercialization hubs produce many software and hardware companies scaling their first sales teams. Their orgs often carry lead routing, scoring and handoff rules layered on by successive revenue leaders. Optimization maps that logic, removes conflicts, clarifies lifecycle stages from lead to renewal and rebuilds funnel reporting so marketing and sales stop disputing the numbers.

Plan for it

What to plan for in Chicago.

01

Merge divisional conventions first

Business units folded together over time often use different stage names, industry codes and account types for the same thing. Agree a single set of definitions with each division's sales leader before cleaning data, since normalization without agreement tends to be quietly undone within a quarter.

02

Review mobile, not just desktop

Outside sales and service staff covering the Midwest often update Salesforce from a phone between visits. Review the mobile layouts and quick actions they rely on, not only the desktop screens, because a clumsy mobile experience is a common reason field teams stop logging activity.

03

Fix duplicates at the source

Duplicate accounts often come from an integration or web form rather than from users. Before a deduplication pass, find where duplicates originate and fix the entry point with matching rules or integration logic; otherwise the cleanup has to be repeated a few months later.

FAQ

Optimization in Chicago: questions.

Can optimization help our Chicago sales team use Salesforce on the road?

Yes. We review what reps do between customer visits, then configure the Salesforce mobile app with compact layouts, quick actions for logging calls and creating follow-ups, and list views of priority accounts. Fewer required fields and shorter steps make updates realistic from a parking lot, which is where most field activity is either recorded or forgotten.

We added Revenue Cloud a while ago and quoting still happens in spreadsheets. Why?

Usually because the pricing rules in Salesforce do not match how sales actually prices. Special discounts, distributor pricing or bundles may be missing, or quotes take too many steps. We compare recent spreadsheet quotes with what the system produces, fix or simplify the rules and templates, and retrain reps on the revised process so the spreadsheet stops being necessary.

When will a Chicago team notice the difference?

Small fixes, like removing unused fields, repairing report filters and simplifying layouts, usually reach users within the first weeks. Deeper work, such as consolidating automation or rebuilding forecasts, follows in later releases. Active users, field completion and dashboard usage are recorded before and after each release, so you can see which changes are moving adoption and which need another look.
