We work with New Haven-region health systems, biotech and life sciences companies, colleges and universities, and manufacturers on Salesforce.

Abstrakt Solutions is a Salesforce Consulting Partner serving companies in New Haven and the surrounding towns of South Central Connecticut, including North Haven and Wallingford, remotely and on site. New Haven is one of our focus markets.
New Haven is a short flight from St. Louis, and a single visit can cover downtown and Science Park as well as North Haven and Wallingford, a short drive away. Our Central workday trails Connecticut by one hour, so we start calls once your morning is already underway.
Figures cover the New Haven, CT Metro Area (CT).
In BEA data, health care leads the New Haven region’s private economy and educational services follows closely, a pairing that reflects the area’s hospitals and universities. REX Development, which covers 15 towns in South Central Connecticut, calls the academic hospital system based in New Haven a major anchor institution and describes health care as the region’s largest employer sector. It also notes that a second Connecticut hospital network is expanding, with locations in 12 of REX’s 15 towns, and it counts six colleges and universities in Greater New Haven, among them an Ivy League research university.
According to REX, the region is home to nearly half of Connecticut’s biotech firms, with that Ivy League university’s venture office driving faculty-led spinouts in biotech and deep tech. REX points to a global medical-device maker investing $750 million to $1 billion in a new campus at its existing North Haven site, a clinical-stage biotech expanding at Science Park to 67,500 square feet, and 101 College Street, a 500,000-square-foot medical and laboratory building that opened in 2024 with 30,000 square feet of incubator space. Beyond biotech, a hydrogen-equipment manufacturer is investing $30 million in its Wallingford facility, and QuantumCT, a partnership between UConn and that Ivy League university, has put more than $1.3 million into startup seed funding since 2023.
Largest private sectors, 2024 GDP share.
New Haven’s academic hospital system and a second, expanding hospital network shape care across South Central Connecticut, and practices and care organizations working alongside them need scheduling, referral and outreach tools with strict privacy controls.
The six colleges and universities REX counts in Greater New Haven manage applicants, students, alumni, donors and research partners, relationships that Salesforce can connect across departments.
Medical-device production in North Haven and hydrogen-equipment investment in Wallingford point to manufacturers selling engineered products that need quoting, installed-base service and ERP integration.
Biotech research companies, lab-services firms and quantum and deep-tech startups track collaborators, grants, investors and pilot customers, which a standard sales pipeline does not capture without adjustment.
Regional target sectors: Life Science, Healthcare, Higher Education, Technology, Manufacturing, Arts, Entertainment & Tourism (REX Development, Key Sectors: Life Science)
Biotech spinouts often begin with a spreadsheet of investors and partners, then need documented processes and audit trails as products move toward the clinic or market.
Universities and hospitals commonly run separate systems for students, patients, donors and research partners, which makes a single relationship view hard to reach.
Organizations that touch both clinical care and research often need to record what each person agreed to and who may contact them, which shapes the whole data model.

Read the full post →Usually once you are managing more than a handful of investors, collaborators and early customers, or when two people start keeping separate lists. Begin with Sales Cloud on standard objects, with record types for investors, research partners and commercial prospects, and keep clinical or patient data out of the org. As regulated work approaches, add field history tracking and approval steps so the record of decisions holds up. A small, clean build is easier to extend than a hurried large one.
Track installed devices as assets linked to each hospital or clinic account, with serial numbers, software versions and service contracts. Service Cloud handles complaints and technical cases with the audit trail quality teams expect, and Field Service schedules on-site repairs and preventive maintenance. Pull order and lot history from ERP through an integration rather than rekeying it. Agree early with regulatory staff on which complaint fields must be captured so the process supports your reporting obligations.
Education Cloud gives colleges a shared data model for applicants, students and alumni, so records carry forward instead of being recreated at each stage. Marketing Cloud runs recruitment and giving campaigns, and Experience Cloud can offer applicant or student portals. The harder work is integrating the student information system and agreeing who owns each field. We usually phase the rollout, starting with admissions and adding advising and advancement once data quality is proven.
